Damn. Nancy called Butch during the summer and she and I talked about the conversation. There was no mention of any serious health problems.
Butch and I were pretty close during Jr High at Jefferson and Sophomore year at HHS. He lived just up the street from me on Cardenas and Copper.
He, Gene Montgomery and I were in the same scout troop and had lots of fine adventures learning to be 'trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean and reverent'.
In our Sophomore year @ HHS we both got motor bikes. Had a great time exploring that freedom together.
I am sorry I didn't take the time to give him a call.
So Long Butch

This is very sad news indeed.  I had hoped to see Butch at the reunion.  My first experience at 100+ MPH was with Butch in his Dad's Jaguar.  We both had a love for speed.  Working on cars made us both happy.  His Dad's shop was a good place to do that.  I shall always remember big Butch and that curly red hair.  He was a fun person to be around.  Lots of memories!

I'm sorry to hear about Butch.  He sat by me in junior high classes and always made me laugh.  A very sweet guy.
