So Long Terry.

His friend Jim Gates helped Albuquerque Journal Sportswriter Rick Wright write a fine soliloquy for the August 5, 2021 issue. A link to that article is attached

We are all saddend to hear this news.  Terry brought much joy to most all of us, either in the class, on the field, in the stands or just as the kind person that he was.  He was a fine representation of a student/athelete and Highland High and the class of '64 was blessed to have him with us.  Our memories of high school shine much brighter because of people like Terry.  My prayers and sympathy to the family and all his friends.

Many classmates had an impact and provided many fond memories in my youth, but none more so than Terry.  A personallity filled with class.  Soft spoken,  yet a competitor that led by example.  My memory is certainly not as well tuned as it once was , but I can  vividly remember our first meeting at Emerson Elementary in the sixth grade.  My heart hurts at the loss of a great class mate and friend.  May God Bless all of his family and those that knew him!

Terry's family moved into the house across the street from us when we were in the 6th grade.  He came over, introduced himself and invited me over to shoot some hoops.  Just the beginning of an adventure filled 3 years! I have many fond memories of Terry.  Prayers for him and his family.  He was loved and respected by so many!

Terry Stone was someone I remember looking up to in those high school years.  He used his considerable talents after graduation and has surely left his surrounding communities better off for him having passed that way.  It is all we can hope for in life, to leave it a little better place for having been there.  Nothing else goes with us.  Congratulations then to Terry Stone and the memories he will have placed in his family's tresure box of days past.  Good bye Terry Stone.

Terry and I moved into the same neighborhood and attended Emerson Elementary School. We were in fifth grade, our teacher was Mrs. Knight. We quickly became friends. I don't remember whose idea it was but we decided to make a zip-line. There was an electrical pole near the cinder block wall in Terry's backyard with metal bolts so it was easy to climb up the electrical pole. We needed a cable but the cable cost more than we expected. So that led to gathering old newspapers from the neighborhood. We then tied the newspapers up in rolls, tying them together with string. We sold them to a moving van company on Central Ave & San Pedro NE. We purchased the thick steel cable and staked it to the ground in Terry's backyard. We climbed up the electrical pole, grabbed ahold of the metal ring, and ripped down the zip-line. I am saddened to hear about Terry's death. Rest In Peace Terry.

My deepest sympathies for Terry's family!  Our HHS family has lost a great piece of our history.  Many Friday nights spent watching him lead the football team to victory!  He will be missed but not forgotten!

Saw Stone many times in past twenty years at the golf club where he worked for many years, and had great conversations about the old days, as well as the new ones.  He was so energetic, and so loved by his fellow employees at Cypress Point Club-----just the same great guy we always knew.

We talked about his kidney disease and I tried to get him into a couple of hospitals where he could be properly treated---to no avail.  Knew it was getting bad the last time I saw him.

He loved his time at HHS, and had great memories---would just rattle off names and we would laugh as we thought of each classmate..  So do we all have great memories---We'll take State and even more, we're the Class of '64.  Thanks Terry for what you did for us under those Friday night lights..........RIP my friend
