The reunion was perfect from start to finish! I can't even imagine all the time and effort put in by Nancy, Janet, Cissy, and Larry, but it was awesome, and my only wish would have been that everyone could have been there.  Thanks to all of you for a truly amazing experience!

Ken, I would like to thank you again for the flowers.  It was so beautiful and unusual.  That was so nice and a really big surprise.  I am so happy with the comments every one is sending in.  I can't believe it went off without a hiccup.  I have not heard anything negative, nor a single complaint.

Thank you for coming, so glad you enjoyed it.  I did too, Nancy

Please add another voice in thanks and congratulations for the special work of the committee...Nancy, Mark, Cissy, Janet, Larry...you did a TERRIFIC job and I hope you get lots of appreciation for it!

Took me awhile to get in "reunion" mode and know that I missed good visits with many, so hope we do get another chance.  For any of you that heard the stats that Gene Montgomery had on our class and era...it was truly impressive.  What a class A experience we were given at HHS!

Fun thing happened the day after our last reunion event.  Was attending a Labor Day picnic at La Luz (where I have a part time ABQ home) and was listening to a retired gentleman who also lives there talk about his long time in the area.  His voice was so familiar I finally interrupted to ask about his former profession (teacher) and school (Highland).  It turned out to be Bill Robertson, who was our English teacher.  We had a great time talking about the old days and he agreed that we were the "golden age" and a highlight of his teaching career.  He said that of his many school spaces, his favorite classroom was #106... which happens to be the one that was open for us when we toured on Sunday.  I did a bit of reflection that day...remembering exactly where I was sitting in that room on Nov 23, 1963 when we learned that JFK was truly gone.

I can't believe how many events you all planned and carried out so well!  Hard to say which event was my favorite since each held a special memory of people and/or places.  Hard to say which was most enjoyable  or which seemed to capture what  we were most like back then.  For me, perhaps it was the “driving around” during  the scavenger hunt, talking “trash” (sort of), figuring out what was where and “who was up or down,”  cruising by Frank’s (or whatever it is now), and then wolfing down outrageously rich stuff while the music was blasting at the 66 diner!   Seriously, all events were so carefully planned and carried off so smoothly that this must have been one of the best reunions any class ever held anywhere!  And even for the Hornets, that’s saying something.  Thanks to all the organizers, but I really appreciated everyone who came, ate, talked, drank, and “conquered,” or whatever Figge and Nielson would have said during their  Western Civ class!    HHS 50 was surely in a Class by itself.

--Best Regards,

  Bill Pickens

The reunion was far beyond what I expected, we thank you all of you that made it happen. Shirlley and I drove down from Washington state and took in alot of country on our way to the reunion. Shirley many times on the trip asked me if there was anyone in particular that I wanted to see and I did not have an answer. When I got to the reunion I was amazed at what I experianced. Some old and very dear friends were there in attendance and that was a very pleasant surprise. However every person that I met at the reunion, when I looked  into their eyes and shook hands with them, I remembered something special about that person. The answer to Shirley's question is I realized is "everyone". Thanks again for the memories and a very special time.

Peace and Prosperity to All

I would like to thank Nancy, Cissy, Janet, Danny and Larry for your hard work putting together our 50th High School Reunion.  It was GREAT to see old friends and classmates from the Class of 64. Your hard work resulted in a very fun and relaxing weekend.  The format allowed me to visit with many individuals I have not seen in years.

Thanks again,

John

Many, many thanks to Nancy and Mark, Janet, Cissy, Larry and others who helped with the reunion.  It was well planned and executed down to the smallest detail without the slightest hiccup.  It is obvious that a tremendous amount of timing was invested.  The website has worked very well, the schedule was great, the name tags were perfect, the food was excellent, and we had great opportunities to visit with classmates.  I also appreciated the extra touches of the medals and the goody bags with mementos of the reunion.  (Even the twist ties were blue and gold!)  My husband Ken was especially impressed with the flashlight.  I almost didn't attend, but am very glad I did. Ken, even had a good time.  I hope we will be able to have another one in 5 years since we aren't getting any younger.  I wish we also could have a hard copy of everyone's updates since the website is temporary.

Nancy, did you and the committee take in enough to cover expenses?  Let us know if you went in the hole.  I am sending a check to go towards maintaining the website and for the HHS band and want to remind others to contribute also.  Sid Richardson Foster

I want to add my thanks to the 4 of you and any other organizers for the excellent reunion - it surpassed all my expectations!  The 4 Hills was a beautiful place, the decorations were very nice and even the food was great! We had lots of time to mingle and see all our old classmates and I'm looking forward to the picture package of the event.  I'm sure it wasn't easy to do all that work, but you made it a very happy memory.   Thank you so much and I do hope we have another one. I nominate the 4 of you to repeat the wonderful job you did.

I regret this late posting but I still want to express my strong sentiments on a job well done by the reunion committee. Thanks to all of you for taking the initiative and devoting the hard work necessary in the planning and organization of the events that made the weekend such a great success. I enjoyed the opportunity to reconnect with many members of our class as we recalled memories of years past. A good time was had by all.

Dear Hornets,    What a wonderful 50th reunion we All enjoyed!  There were two of our classmates that were so very Happy to be able to attend...myself and my precious friend.  My Very Dear and longtime friend Ann Barron, passed away on Oct. 20, 2014.  Ann died with such Grace and never felt sorry for herself, always thinking of others.  Going to our 50th was on her bucket list.  I thank all of you for making her so happy, she felt so much love from all of you!  During the reunion Nancy, John, Jack,  Cissy, Beth thank you for helping me care for her, and each and everyone of our class.  Thank You from the bottom of my heart.  Ann and I spoke all most every day on the phone, after she returned to Dallas, and with each conversation we both had something to say about how great everyone was and how much fun our reunion was.  What a great, caring class the class of HHS 64 is!        My  heart is broken to  lose her - I will miss our ongoing chats, laughter and realities.  But if her death will save even one of our Hornets or Family members then her death will not be fornot.  Hornets, make sure you GET your Colonoscopy, a test that would haved her life, DO NOT put it off!!!   Ann loved  GOD, Life, Family and Laughter.   "LOVE YOU GIRL"!

Jackie Markland Grossetete      ~22 forever...~  hahahah   my "Bestes

My doctor has been after me for years to have that test done and I hate liquids so much that I have been putting it off.  I remember Ann from school and am so sorry that she is gone,  we were good friends during those years and I am wish that I had seen her during the reunion, but somehow we missed each other.  I have had guests here with colon cancer staying here with their friends during the last stages to say goodbye and have seen the pain and suffering, but still refused to have this test done.  This posting has helped me make decision to grow up and get the test done before the end of the year.  Thanks Jackie, and even though this is very late coming I just want to add my thanks to all the folks that helped to make this reunion possible.  It was really a very special   time and so good to visit with everyone.  Please remember that if any of you are up in the mountains going on the Turquoise Trail to Sana Fe or just taking a ride to the top of Sandia Crest you are always Welcome to stop by to warm up in front of the fire with a hot chocolate.  I will love having you visit.

I was so sorry to hear about Ann.  When I spoke to her at the reunion I never would have known she was so ill.  What a testament to her spirit.  My thoughts and prayers go out to her family and to you Jackie.  How wonderful for both of you to have been such good friends.

I want to add my encouragement to get a colonoscopy.  The stuff you have to drink before hand is horrible, but not as horrible as cancer.  The colonoscopy itself is no big deal since you will be asleep the whole time.  I had the best nap ever after coming home, so that's a plus.  We are too young to die of something as avoidable as colon cancer!  Jackie is right; get the test!  Judy Huckaby Schroeder

I know this must be hard to believe but I do have a birthday coming up on the 22nd of this month!  Somehow the computer software managed to miss me last year as well as this year. I use to not like birthdays; now I am just glad they come around!!  Go Hornets!  What a wonderful class we had along with some wonderful teachers!
