In Memory

Richard W Bild

We were just notified by Bob McAulay that Dick passed away after a 2 year battle with cancer. Our profound regrets to his wife Karen and the Bild family. So Long.

Bob reminded me that Dick was a National Merit Scholarship Finalist while at Highland.

His obituary lists numerous other noteworthy accomplishments here:

I remember Richard as a nice guy at Highland, but unfortunately never kept up with him after we graduated.  In just reading about his interests, as well as his outstanding education and career achievements, I am honored to have known him.  The world will miss such an accomplished person.

Memories of Richard Bild go back to the Montezuma Elementary School playground and the tether ball contests that we were all so invested in.  Richard was one of the brilliant ones, which was well acknowledged, but his interests were not confined to books alone. How often did you find the smartest guy in the class also mixing it up nicely with everyone in the PE class? That is who he continued to be it appears.  Reading about his accomplishments after we left HHS tells the story of a remarkably balanced and engaged life of family, community, science, and his profession.  So sorry for him and his family to learn that the last two years were spent fighting cancer.  Farewell to Richard Bild.

I am so saddened for Richard's family and to hear what Richard went through for the past two years.  He is in God's arms now.  I knew Richard from Montezuma through HHS.  He was a great guy and so intelligent.  He will be missed.
