Betty was my good friend in home economics.  I connected after high school again when she helped me select blow guns for my kids Christmas gift.  They really enjoyed shooting these at a dart target.  The next time I got to see Betty was when she was my Dale Carnegie teacher.  I am so glad we had these times together.  Betty is one of the people I was really looking forward to seeing on our 50th reunion.  I am so sorry that I am not going to get to.

I so miss you Betty - we met when we were 12 and both members of the unicycle club.  We fought and huged just as we were sisters.  We kept up over the years and shared children and grandchildren - I even had the opportunity to sing in her daughter Diane's wedding.  We were such good friends and was able to sit with her and hold her hand while my husband - Hector Garcia - played for her in the end.  Hugs and I will see you later my friend.

As a child, Betty and her family lived across the street from me. Then when she got married, she and Ron moved into the house next door to my house and across the steet from her childhood house. When I was living in California, Betty was such a caring friend to my parents, keeping an eye out for their well-being. She and Ron even fostered my niece, Shelly, to help my mother who was taking care of 3 very young grandchildren at the time. Betty loved collections, her antique dolls are the highlight. Of course, Ron's personal historical gun and military collectons fit right in to their business. Betty never made others feel uncomfortable even as she so gracefully struggled with her debilitating disease. Her husband threw her a wonderful birthday party in 2012. There were at least 200 friends and family who came from far and near, and Betty made her way around the room, to each table, speaking to each and every person who came to wish HER well. She was truly a special lady.
