This is a sweet picture of my friend, Nancy Aimes Mayo, her last picture. We have been friends since we were about 3, always in the same dance classes at Fishbacks. Friends throughout our lives.
Nancy and Mark Mayo have been taking care of my little Duchess since I am in Mexico. You can see that is one contented doggie in Nancy’s lap. Nancy loved caressing Duchess. She loved snuggling her. Mark took this picture while we were on the phone on Saturday night and sent it to me.
On Sunday, Nancy went for a walk around the block with Mark & his daughter (who now lives across the street from them). Nancy made it around the block for the first -and last-time. She then said she didn't feel well & went in to take a nap. About 45 minutes later, Mark went to check on her, but found her lifeless.
She had many health issues, including many heart stints & diabetes. She was not good about taking her meds or regulating her diabetes. Mark & Nancy got married about 8 years ago. Nancy was Mark’s 5th grade crush. ??She always was cute as a button ??Even reigning as Miss New Mexico.
They were married a couple of years before our Highland 50th reunion, which Nancy & Mark played a lead role in executing the festivities.
Nancy loved attending reunions, her year, HHS'64, as well as the reunions of the classes a year or two before and after ours. She loved keeping in touch with old friends.
Always a friend. Nancy, you may now see your friends who have already left us.
Most certainly now you’ll be joining your beloved Mother and Daddy, Eda Mae & Virgil. ?? May you Rest In Peace.
Happy Birthday, Mike Smith. You're still an incredible driving instructor ( taught me how to drive in the good-old daze). Lifetime of great memories!
Happy Birthday, Susan! So are you now a US Marshall? Very commendable, my friend.
I'd love to get over to San Antonio & visit with you. And, I still want to connect with my mother's Canary Island ancestors in SA. My mom died recently, 3 days before her 104th birthday.ii spent the better part of the last 10 years keeping an eye on my mom. She was a dynamo & I was happy that I was able to take care of her these last few years. We had a very festive Grand Finale Celebration for her at Abq CC, Incorporated the same year as her birth in 1914.
Also, my cousin in Austin is one of the Asst DAs( Frank King). I really need to do a Texas trip sometime soon & catch up with relatives & friends.
So, hope you enjoyed your most recent birthday! May you have many more!
Happy Birthday Dear Kay...
i loved getting to see you & having a bit of a visit! Have a Good year.
Berta, Kept thinking about you all through your birthday & the last giant perigee moon - the Harvest Moon- and thinking of every full moon we would run out to see on the beach at Kailua. I am sure it was spectacular. We all missed you so much at the reunion. Yes, a cruise around the islands would be a fabulous reunion... maybe for our collective 70th birthdays in 2 years!!!!
TOMMY, It was so much fun seeing you at the reunion... and meeting Donna, too. I LOVED it when you wheeled in to the HHS parking lot in your Rolls Royce cycle. Really, Tom, how cool is that... a full on massive motorcycle.. I really do want to go for a ride some day.. Any time you and Donna are up my way, give me a call and let's go for a ride. Ben was over yesterday on his bike.. Let's all go for lunch, OK?
Sharon,
Thank you so much for posting this beautiful article about Marilyn. She was such a terrific young lady as I knew her at HHS, outstanding in so many ways, one being showing her wamth towards everyone she was around. Certainly she lived a fully expressive and fulfilled life surrounded by her wonderful family, career and artistic hobbies.
We would love to present Lane and Marilyn's family our Gift of Rememberance from the Class of 1964, the "Golden Hornet" keepsake.

Thank you, George, for posting this tribute to Thomas Kingen. I wish I had known him better. Clearly, he was truly an outstanding man of distinction. He will be remembered at our reunion.
